The All Star Twirling Summer Camp 2015

Our summer camp will take place June 29- July 2, 2015, with Robyn McDowell-Coley as Camp Director and will feature instructors Chelsea Russel, Karissa Wimberly, Nicole Jensen, Ansley Cartee, and Lindsey Finkel!

Chelsea Russel has received her BA in English/Creative Writing with a Minor in French, and a Master’s degree in Secondary English Education from The University of Iowa. Chelsea was the “Golden Girl” feature twirler for the Hawkeye Marching Band for five years of her collegiate career and she had the pleasure of serving as the coach of the new Golden Girl and Drum Major on the HMB staff this past year. Chelsea has been twirling for over twenty years. During her time as a competitor, she has won Seven World Twirling Titles, Four Miss Majorette of America titles and Five Grand National Twirling Championship titles. Most Recently, Chelsea won the 2012 Senior Rhythmic Twirl Championship, World Open Twirl-off, and Grand National Twirling Championship at AYOP in July 2013. Although Chelsea is now retired from competitive twirling, she loves teaching baton and plans to remain involved in the sport she loves.

Karrissa Wimberly holds 24 World Twirling titles between NBTA and USTA/WBTF. Her world titles include wins in solo, two baton, freestyle, team, and duet. She is the 2014 USTA Senior Women's Gold Medalist, and Grand National Solo and Artistic Twirl Champion. She is the 2014 WBTF Senior Women World Silver Medalist. Karrissa is a member of the 2014 WBTF Bronze Medalist World Team- Intrepid. She is a 10 times NBTA Grand National Twirling and Two Baton Champion, 5 times Grand National Collegiate Twirling Champion, and Sullivan Award Finalist. She is currently the FSU Auxiliary Coordinator.

Nicole Jensen

2014-15 College Miss Majorette of America 2012 Women's Collegiate Champion 2009 World Silver Medalist 2008 Junior Miss Majorette of America. Nicole is in her senior year at the University of Georgia, where she is a marketing major. She has been a feature twirler for the past 4 years. She has loved all aspects of twirling with the Redcoat Band, including band rehearsals, trying new tricks and the crowds reaction when she twirls fire. One of the highlights of the year was twirling with the majorettes and winning the team National Championship. She also enjoys teaching twirling, but when she doesn't have a baton in her hand, she enjoys running and hanging out with friends.

Ansley Cartee
Former Jr. Miss Majorette of America, Jr. World Open Strut Champion, World Team member in 3 events, Silver medalists at Worlds, and the Clemson University Feature Twirler.

Lindsey Finkel has been twirling for 20 years. Is the assistant director to the South Florida Dynamics Baton Twirling Corp as well as a group member.Has competed at 3 International Cup Championships and won four Gold Medals, two in Solo, one in 2-baton and one in Duet, as well as a silver medal in 3 baton. Was apart of Team USA in 2014 for the World Championships in which we received the Bronze Medal. Was also the feature twirler at the University of Miami for two years.

Camp Director: Robyn McDowell-Coley

Robyn is the coach for All Star Twirlers, Niceville High School and Destin Middle School. 98% of Robyn’s students go on to twirl in College. Her students have won State and National Titles. Robyn was a University of Memphis Majorette where she received a full athletic scholarship for twirling. Robyn grew up in Memphis, TN where she was taught by Nancy Mitchell and Laurie Britt while under their direction she won various titles in Tennessee and Mississippi. Prior to moving to Florida Robyn taught students in Tennessee and Mississippi. She is also a NBTA judge and coach

Camp Assistant Director: Amanda Saltsman

Amanda is the coach of the Twinkling Twirlers, the Ruckel Middle School Majorettes, Rocky Bayou Christian School feature, and Pryor Middle School feature. Her students have won several state, regional, and national titles. Amanda was a majorette herself for Ruckel Middle School, Niceville High School and Florida State University. Amanda was taught by Patty Foy, and competed with NBTA from age 10-18. She has taught twirling in Niceville for 8 years now. Before that she had a small group in Georgia.
